Unlike other auxiliary spring systems, the SES Suspension Upgrade guarantees the best of both worlds. Its unique design ensures superb ride quality loaded or unloaded. Kinda expensive when a $10 poly bump would serve the same purpose. This SES Suspension Upgrade replaces the jounce stop on the frame. You COULD conceviably valve them ligher, so that they could compress on flex, but then you kind of loose thier functional purpose. This is because if you have a 4" bump on your truck, simply flexing it out is not nearly enough force to compress the bump, so you effectivley loose 4" of uptravel. They arent very applicable in crawlers unless your rig is also capable of going fast. Basically your truck never feels like it bottoms out, like it has an infinite amount of wheel travel. Just like any other high end shock, they are also nitrogen-charged, hence the "air-bump" monkier. They traditionally come in 4" and 6" lengths, and you can shim them down from there to whatever travel length you need. ![]() They are basically a mini, one-ended shock absorber with a whole lot of compression valving. Some who drive their vehicles especially hard (track, rally, etc.) sometimes use red bushings because it is easier to see any damage that the bushing might have suffered from extreme conditions.Įnergy Suspension used to have Yellow and Blue options but they stopped producing components in these colors a long time ago and they are no longer available on the market. The commonly called "air bumps" ARE actually hydraulic bumps. Red or black bushings is almost entirely an aesthetic choice, there is no real functional difference between the two. Toyota Tacoma or 4Runner 1998-2012 Ford Ranger Front Prerunner Bumper. The different colors do not indicate a higher or lower durometer. 5 bump stops custom drive line fuel safe cell, total chaos gen 3 cadi kit up front. The Durometer (or hardness) of red and black bushings are the same for that position. ![]() Graphite is not added to the red formula simply because it changes the color of the bushing. Some black components are graphite impregnated as a self-lubricating agent, but overall they are the same part. The two different colors are essentially the same at a formula level.
